About Us

The Kentucky Water Ski Federation is an organization of water skiers and their families, dedicated to the growth and development of the 3-Event Discipline of water skiing in the state of Kentucky.  These three events are slalom, trick skiing, and jumping. The following are the main objectives of the KWSF:

  • The creation and maintenance of a healthy, competitive, and fun water skiing atmosphere for skiers of all levels – both competitive and recreational.

  • Support of 3-event tournaments and tournament sites in the state of Kentucky, by developing, maintaining, and providing  accredited officials; providing tournament boats and other equipment as needed; providing additional help for tournament sponsors in the way of non-rated (but necessary) manpower for secondary tasks; and encouraging the development of new tournament sites around the state.

  • Commitment of time and resources to develop our junior skiers, in order that they may maximize their capabilities to become the best 3-event skiers they can be.

  • Promote water skiing safety and education at every opportunity.

The KWSF holds two meetings each year:

  • The summer meeting is held during the period of the state championships, typically at the annual meeting on Saturday of the event.  Minimal business is conducted at this meeting, with the primary business being the presentation of annual awards and award winners.

  • The winter meeting is typically held in November of each year at a location as central to the state as possible.  This is the primary business meeting of the KWSF, with the following addressed:

  • Election of officers for the coming year.

  • Election/replacement of the outgoing state councilman (one of three) to a 3-year term.

  • Appointment of other key positions, to include state junior development coordinator, website manager, and any other necessary (temporary or permanent) positions.

  • Discussion of issues affecting water skiing in Kentucky and the Southern Region, including review and/or changing of by-laws as needed.

  • Determination of the site for the state championships site for the following year, and selection of dates for in-state tournaments for the following year in a way that avoids conflicting dates.

KWSF annual membership dues are $10 for single, $25 for family.
